China's economy has been developing with each passing day; its achievements receive a worldwide attention. Human Capital is the most crucial factor in economic development. As the major means of human capital cultivation, education occupies an important place hardly permitting doubts. As a matter of fact, a higher standard of human capital cultivation is urged along with rapid economic development of china. The conception of sustainable development has rooted in everyone nowadays. It is an inescapable responsibility of china's higher colleges to cultivate more well-rounded talents satisfying the demands of social economic development.A detailed investment analysis of human capital at higher education stage is given in the thesis. It points out that higher education is a sort of investment. Government, society and individuals are investing in it. The investment is not only a vital method serving for economic construction of china, but also a way to achieve personal worth of college students.Human capital investment at higher education level is superior to other kinds. Besides government investment, individual (family) investment is studied as a main body of investment in the thesis. Independently, several means of cost and the rate of return counting is concluded, and more analyses have been done based on some cases and statistic.Given that the outcome of capital different investment main body putting in higher education is finally represented by the talents cultivated by colleges, well-rounded talents is the product of higher education. Then the cost-benefit analysis is centered on different kinds of economic benefit of investment.In the thesis, present status of higher education in china is analyzed according to human capital investment researches of western economist.
