| "Contemporary Chinese Youth Intellectuals"refers to those intellectuals who grew up in 1980s. They support Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thoughts, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Important Thought of "Three Represents"and the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party; they follow the socialist road of Chinese Characteristics; they have advanced, systematic and comprehensive knowledge structure, a broad vision and can combine the destiny of the state with their personal achievements. But they are short of social practice. "Contemporary Chinese Youth Intellectuals"are the pioneer and vanguard that are expected to realize the grand goal of national rejuvenation; they are also the main force in our goal of rejuvenating the country through science and technology as well as building a well-off society. In an era of knowledge economy, they are faced with both opportunities and challenges. It is of great significance to study the characteristics of these people who grew up on the background of the nation's reform and open-door policy. They are supposed to have lofty goals and strong sense of mission in order for them to achieve personal goals and at the same time make due contribution to our socialist modernization. The present thesis is based on such a theme of both theoretical and practical significance. The author makes a study of these young people combining the methods of literature analysis and comparison. The author regards it necessary to understand the significance and urgency of the ideological education on these young people within the context of knowledge economy. A good atmosphere must be created to respect knowledge and the talented people so that the youth intellectuals are able to display their talents and make due contribution to the cause of socialist modernization in China.
