High Technology And Economic Growth

In human history, the revolution of science and technology has been widely used in production, which has changed the world a lot. The first revolution of science and technology in the 1770s is known for the invention and popular use of steamer. It caused the transition from manual work to mechanical work and trained a lot of skilled industrial workers. In the end, modern production pattern with factory institution and some new industries such as textile, rail transportation, steel, mining industries emerged.In the 1870s, with the invention and widely use of generator and engine, the second revolution of science and technology starts. Since the 1940s, the third revolution of science and technology arrived. The electronic information, biology, new stuff and astronautics technology developed rapidly and soon were widely used in all kinds of fields. After then, the amount of worker in the first and second industries soon decreased and the proportion of third industry increased rapidly. The high technology industry began to play a major role in the world economy.The coming of knowledge economy affected the world so much that every aspect of human society changed a lot. The speed and extension of the new technology's influence on society and economy are unprecedented. It mainly depended on the development of such technology including electronic information, human life, new stuff, new energy and recycled energy, space science and ocean science. Within them, the information is the most important, because it accelerated the development of electronic telecommunication and changed the mode of international trade, production and marketing as well.Most of all, it make the human life more convenient and colorful.Recently, according the statistics, the technology improves the economic so much that it almost amounts for 50 percent of the growth. Science and technology has become the most important strategic resource. Once a breakthrough in science and technology appears, it will bring great development of productivity. In this sense, we should put enough emphasis on the research of science and technology.Based on the recent research work of high-tech industry, this paper begins from the connotation and its relation with economic growth using the basic analytic method. After a comparing analysis of the high-tech development condition, development environment and strategic policy, it points out some common points in the hope that they can serve the science and technology cooperation between the two countries. In details, the paper includes such content as below:Chapter I: This part begins with the introduction of three revolutions of science and technology and points out directly its influence and importance to the production and living of human being. It holds that the third revolution of science and technology is the most important because the information technology's influence on economic activities is unprecedented. The paper also says that with the globalization's speeding up, the international competition and cooperation coexist. There are some complementary points in economy cooperation between China and Korea. If the two countries can expand their cooperation, it will absolutely benefit both of them a lot in the coming day.Chapter II: This part mainly talks about the relation between scientifictechnology and economic growth. Firstly, it makes a introduction of the definition and characteristics of economic growth, then it focuses on some, major principles of modern technological innovation economics. In this part, it proved the relation between scientific technology and economic growth from the theory aspect; secondly, it discusses the influence of technological innovation on economic growth and points out that science and technology has become an important competitiveness index for the changing from science and technology to productivity. Thirdly, it introduces the significance of developing high-tech industry and concludes that the industrialization of high-tech is the core of economic growth, for it makes the continual economic growth possible.Chapter III: Firstly, this part compares the difference of China and Korea in the development condition and trend in high-tech industry and summarizes some common and different points. It points out that the main difference of the two countries: China is more competitive in primary research and development, but Korea's advantage is in the applied research and technology; secondly, it makes some contrast of the two country's policy in developing high-tech and points out that the Korea's development in science and technology is changing from mainly depending on government to the society power.
