In the time of Burke, the thought of classical liberalism coming from Scotland and rationalism coming from France reached their climax . Individualism and liberalism is thriftily. Freedom , equality , the thought of natural right and the theory of societal bargain have entered people's mind. There was a drastic dispute between empiricism and rationalism. With the flourish of thought enlighten, there is a development of market economy and the climax of bourgeois revolution. There was a big revolution t in France guided with the theory of Rousseau, a delegate of radicalism. It broke the order in France and endangered the order of the whole Europe, especially the order in England. England need a steady order to maintain it's governing. Under this circumstance, Burke was against the France revolution and praised for the America revolution. And he bringed forward his thought of conservatism from the nourishment of the history and practice.Burke thought human's practice , virtue and wisdom were in the river of history in the form of custom and tradition. The civilization advanced on the base of tradition. And history's civilization nourished human's advancement. So we should respect history and inherit tradition. And the tradition has the function of making the society comity and the order steady. The societal grade came from history , individual and society. It is reasonable to have inequality in status and property. The civilized society needed the order which has the grade. The religion and property is the foundation of the society and they guaranteed the order's steady. The property was the foundation of the law, polity, morality and art. So is to the freedom. The government should protect the separate property out of invasion.Burke thought the country grew in succession, not was created by people. The country existed in the form of the spirit and the morality in essence. The country has the priority to the individual, and the individual depended upon the country.
