The development of Japan's Neo-Conservatism is one of the key factors that have a strong impact on the future development of Japan's political pattern. This research intends to examine and analyze, in an all-round way, the origin, the current situation of Japan's Neo-Conservatism after the Cold War as well as its forms of manifestation, and explore at the same time its influence on Japan's political life, the Sino-Japanese relationships as well as the issue of security and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific area. The introduction gives a brief account of the origin of the idea for this research, its significance and the current studies of this topic. The first chapter focuses on the rising of Japanese Neo-Conservatism, providing relevant background knowledge. We trace back to its emergence and the historical development, define related concepts, and then discuss the factors which promoted it to spring up. The second chapter pictures the major representative figures of Japan's Neo-Conservatism after the Cold War, together with their political stand. We believe that the Neo-Conservatism has developed rapidly and assumed the mainstream of Japans political thoughts. The third chapter centers on specific forms of manifestation of the Neo-Conservatism in Japan. After the elaborate discussion about the four major forms, such as the denial and whitewashof Japan's history of invasion, the amendment of the Peace Constitution, the attempt to establish a militarily powerful nation and a step toward building a politically powerful nation, we made a comparison between the Neo-Conservatism after the Cold War and the one within the war and find out that the Neo-Conservatism, a copy of Japan's Neo-Nationalism, tends to be more Right-deviationist. Based on the previous studies, the fourth chapter probes into the possible influence on Japan caused by the Neo-Conservatism, both at home and abroad. In conclusion, we point out that Japan's Neo-Conservatism has been strengthening all the way with regards to its socialization, legalization as well as its policy-orientedness, which further increases the unpredictability of Japan's political development trend in the new century. But meanwhile, with such factors as America's restriction, we believe that Japan's politics will not go to the extreme of complete Right Deviationism.
