The Sino-Japan Relation In Early Twenty-first Century

The Sino-Japan relation was really undulate since the two countries resume the diplomatic relation thirty-two years ago. For the historic reason (mainly concerning about the issues during the "Anti-Japanese War" period) and the realistic reason, there are a variety of contradictions and misunderstandings, which make the Sino-Japan relation subtle and inter-active on the strategic, political and economic level. Now the future development of this relationship has attracted attentions from all over the world. This paper focus on looking back to the history, analyzing present controversy as well as cooperation, researching for the origin of contradictions between the two countries and trying to excavate the connection point so that we can put forward some suggestions to the future development of its future development.This article can be mainly divided into four sections. The first section is a reviewing back to the historic developing process of the Sino-Japan relation, which includes three parts: the "honeymoon time" from 1970s to 1980s, "developing time" from 1980s to 1990s and "contradiction-appearing time" from 1990s to the early 21st century. The second section focuses on the controversies and contradictions, which have blocked the developing process of Sino-Japan relation for a long time and points out that the main reasons are conflicting national interests, hostile national emotions and U.S interference. The third section describes the cooperation circumstances between the two countries, pointing out this .cooperation's importance to the world, the region and the two countries themselves.Although many difficulties exists, the main current of the Sino-Japan relation is friendly and cooperative, however, the two countries must enhance cooperation in the Sino-U.S-Japan trilateral relation, East- Asian security system and financial area.
