This thesis studies securities e-business models by focusing on the essential elements and the relationships among them. Various e-business models and corresponding theoretical implications are summarized, with essential elements of e-business models identified and classifications of e-business models developed. Accordingly, a new securities e-business model architecture is constructed, which includes the four principal elements of income source, securities research, custom relationships and strategic cooperation. The thesis takes a further step to analyze the associations between the four elements and the extent to which securities e-business is developed. Empirical analysis shows that income source is positively related to applications of information technologies (IT) but negatively related to the degree of networking. In addition, securities research is related to the degree of networking and strategic cooperation is related to IT applications, customer relationships are significantly related to both IT applications and networking.Based on the empirical results, the thesis discusses the path for innovations of securities e-business models and puts forward strategic implications in accordance.
