On American Jury System

The jury system is initially sprouted in ancient Greece and Rome. However, the modern jury system is originated from Britain, and later spread widely in America, Africa, Asia and other places with the colonial expansion of Britain. Although the modern jury system comes from Britain, it has found the rich soil in U. S. A. that is most suitable for its growing. In fact, the jury system has already become a very important component of American judicial system.However, since the 19th century, American jury system has received a lot of query. Especially the value dispute of it has been existing all the time in the fields of American law and political science. In view of this, American jury system has made the adjustment in many aspects in order to meet the needs of times.Though American jury system is limited in many aspects now, as regards its future, American jury system, yet, can be regarded as the defender of justice. It will still play a due role in American judicial and social fields before a better system replaces it.Starting with a probe into the origin of jury system, the article attempts to make one more comprehensive investigation into production, development, operation and value of American jury system. In this way, from a side of democratic system, we expect to observe and probe into American democratic politics, and excavate the cultural spirit of politics and laws contained behind the system.
