Engels' Contributions To Historical Materialism In His Later Years And The Modern Value

Historical Materialism, a great theory which directed Proletarian Revolution, was established by Marx and Engels. Engels'contributions to this theory composed an important part of Historical Materialism. Therefore, it is not integrated, if Engels'contributions to Historical Materialism in his later years were not researched.Engels made many contributions to Historical Materialism in his later years. Eminent contributions can be divided into tow aspects. On one hand, he persisted in Monism in Historical Materialism from start to end, that is, he insisted that material production and economic base were dominant in the development of society. On the other hand, he especially focused on the relative independence of the superstructure, particularly its dynamic role in the process of the society's development. It consisted of the internal base and philosophic presupposition of Historical Materialism's development in China. That can be deduced from the three leading center's thoughts in our Communist Party. Mao Zedong , the first leading generation, proposed social class and social-class revolution. That was based on some elementary principles in Historical Materialism, and focused on the role of regime, the important part of the superstructure. Deng Xiaoping practically posed socialism marketing economic theory. He pointed that the primary task of socialism was to develop production, learning from Mao Zedong's practice and lessons, paying attention to economic base, and emphasizing the development of economics and productive force. Jiang Zemin highly approved of Deng Xiaoping theory, and paid more attention to the important part, regime in the superstructure, persisting in the elementary principles of Historical Materialism. He submitted"the three representatives"theory. From their relations, we can find out that these three leaders'theoretical creations basing on Engels'contribution to Historical Materialism in his later years, revealed a relative integrity of the Historical Materialism's development in China.
