"Color revolution" refers to the street-driven coup launched by oppositions in someCIS countries in recent years, such as "rose revolution" of Georgia in 2003, "orangerevolution" of Ukraine in 2004 and "tulip revolution" of Kyrkyzstan in 2005. "Colorrevolution" was directly manipulated and funded by the United States and other Westerncountries and happened mostly on occasions of presidential or parliamentary elections asthe turning points. The thesis states that "color revolution" is the extension of U.S. policyof peaceful evolution and its real target is aiming at Russia. At the same time, China is alsofacing the challenge of "color revolution", since it is the U.S. established policy toWesternize and split China by peaceful means in the long run. The author suggests a seriesof responsive policies, which China should take to prevent "color revolution" from takingplace. The article is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter the author starts with theorigin, purpose and the five stages of the U.S. strategy of peaceful evolution. The secondchapter explores the origin, purpose and the causes of "Color revolution". In the thirdchapter the author focuses on analyzing success and failure of "color revolution" based onthe experience of Georgia, Ukraine, Kyrkyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Belarus andforesees its tendency in future. The fourth chapter discusses how Russia is preparing toprevent "color revolution" from taking place. In the fifth chapter the author dwells onChinese responsive policies to cope with America's peaceful evolution. The thesis uses thematerial dialectics of Marxism and Mao Zse-tung's viewpoint on contradiction to analyzethe causes and law of development of "color revolution".The author has come to conclusion that "color revolution" is new tactics of the U.S. toplay power politics and seek hegemony in the world. It is a new round of peacefulevolution. Since the U.S. will not give up the ides of Cold War towards Russia, and Russiawill not make any easy concession in important strategic interests, the constructivecontradictions between the U.S. and Russia will exist for a long time to come. Facing theserious challenge of U.S. peaceful evolution, China must learn from experience and drawlessons about resisting "color revolution" of CIS countries and take proper responsivepolicies to handle China's domestic and foreign affairs well so that no one can topple oursocialist China.
