Hezhai Village of Gnangxi, which is the first village that introduced self-government, plays a unique role in the course of china's democratic politics construction. The thesis analyzes the inner relationlship between self-government of the villagers and social harmony in the villages throngh an investigation into the changing of governing and the operation of self-government in Hezhai Villaga. It concludes that self-government in Hezhai Village begins the changing of governing in China. And from the emergence and development of self-government, one can see that the cause of the construction of it is because the state's governing system was not strong enough to stablize pubic orders in the villages when the people's commune system was disintegrated, the villagers began to lead a new road for self-government, self-education and self-service to provide a basic system to guarantee the construction of harmonous social ordersin the villages. It is because self-government of the villagers can form an inner system, which consists of democratic election, democratic decision, democratic management and democratic supervision that it can promote the construction of harmonous social orders in the countryside. The practice of the four respects will greatly improve the villagers' consciousness, such as participation, competition and self-decision. With the effect of them, a series of stable and harmonous factors will emerge gradnally in the villages to construct harmonous social ordersand system. The thesis also analyzes the relationship between the size of the self-governing organization and the efficiency of it, and then points ont that this is also an importamt problem to solve in the development and deepening of the self-government of the villagrs.
