The Historical Memory And The Choice Of Russian National Security Strategy

Russia is a special country, whose territory crosses Eurasia; her culture is the combination of diverse civilizations, whose particular outlook on history has a deep effect on the nation, forming Russian unique historical memory. They affect not only the formation of national security but also the formulation of her security strategy. Thus, the article starts with three separate angles, namely the memory of geography, war and culture to analyze the main content of her traditional outlook on security , which is made up of outlook on geopolitics and power mission .The main content of outlook on Russian geopolitics is territorial ever-increasing, intensifying the defense of lengthways , setting up conflict-preventing zone ,changing some space for time of counter-attack ; seizing the opening seaports so as to guard her marine interests; avoiding the unbeneficial situation such as she has to face up to the enemies in various directions so that she achieves the positive condition .The outlook of her power mission is to maintain her status as a power .Therefore , as is mentioned above , the two factors lead to Russia still regard original U.S.S.R areas as her own sphere of influence, even mid and eastern Europe .Her security aim still focuses on geopolitics solidification the safety of her surroundings , regaining her status as a power.The sharp transformation of Eastern Europe and the disintegration of U.S.S.R., especially her retreating from Eastern Europe led to loss so much safe fence that her strategic defense system fell into pieces. Especially after the end of Cold War, there have arisen a series of events, such as the eastward expansion of NATO, the war to anti -terrorism in Afghanistan and "Color Revolution ", resulting in the worsening course of her safe space around her territory. Severe strategic trend and existed geopolitics structure have threatened greatly her security. So, her national safety outlook, which formed in history, is determined to influence her laying down her security strategy. Therefore, the thesis analyzes Russian policy -to -be about security, according to her current space situation, so as to predict her trend and intention about her security strategy.
