Marx has constructed the principle of sensuous activity through overthrowing the principle of rational activity. Sensuous activity is defined as the activities of actual persons who embody the unity of nature and spirit. The most important properties of sensuous activity are passiveness and activeness. Sensuous activity is target-characterized activity with passiveness and activeness in the synchronic respect. However, the passiveness decreases while the activeness increases in the diachronic respect. With the construction of Marx's principle of sensuous activity, revolution has taken place in many aspects of the philosophical fields. According to Marx's principle of sensuous activity, we come to conclusions as follows: in the respect of ontology, we understand thing-in-itself on the basis of actual persons and their activities; in the respect of epistemology, we find that sensuous activity is the basis of knowledge; in the respect of the view of nature, we observe nature dialectically and historically from the unity of opposites between human being and nature; in the respect of the view of history, we find that the principle of sensuous activity is the core of historical materialism.
