A series of world-shaking terrorist attacks took place in the United States in September 11, 2001. After the events, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) was strongly criticized by the nation, and the US immigration policy was also encountered vehement attack. The US government made significant changes on its immigration policy aimed at enhancing its national public security.This thesis discusses the basic feature of the US immigration policy under the special background of the Sept. 11 attacks, which includes visa issuance management, controlling the borders, monitoring foreign students, dealing with refugees and illegal immigrants. By analyzing the US immigration policy's overwhelming influence upon the US internal society, the Chinese migrants in this country and the Chinese citizens who hope to study, work and reside in America in the future, the thesis puts forward to discuss the future situation of the Chinese migrants in the US. Based on the above study, the thesis tries to make it clear what the Chinese government should do on the migrant problem under the stricter US immigration policy.
