This dissertation investigates,explains and describes the concept of migration of the Chinese to the Russian Far East on the example of Primorsky kray,its peculiar features,reasons and consequences,influence on the relations between two great power countries as Russia and China.The study also examines changes happened in laws to get visa for the Chinese,simplicity in coming to the territories of advanced social and economic development,starting business and investing in trade,infrastructure improvement.Besides,the current thesis will cover the issue of illegal migrants,Chinese migrants‘ activities,its influence on future economic development of Primorsky kray,conflicts between indigenous people and migrants that are reflected,hot-discussed and judged in Mass Media news articles.The purpose of this dissertation is to provide a comprehensive overview of the thoughts about immigrants of the Chinese in the Russian Far East and to contemplate the role of immigration in the development of Sino-Russian relations.The main research questions are: How is immigration of the Chinese considered on different levels,what policies do Russia and China formulate regarding migration.This dissertation examines the reality of existence of the so-called ?yellow threat?,facts and data that could give evidence to it.Evolution of Russian and Chinese policies over migrants,the views of western,Chinese and Russian scientists on this problem will clarify the current situation of SinoRussian relations and what impact migration of the Chinese had on it.In this thesis we have figured out that Russian officials see cooperation with China inevitable for the development of the Far East.However,local people are afraid of migration of the Chinese and their control over their settlement.In order to find out the results of public opinion we have used content analysis as a research method for evaluation news articles about Chinese migrants.Case study of Primorsky kray was chosen because of its economic,political and strategic significance.It evidenced that the Russian Far East strongly needs Chinese investment and the Russian central authorities establish reforms to attract it,but local residents have phobias to immigrants and possible occupation of their land.
