| High technology has both advantages and disadvantages. It brings about big hopes for human being's existence, development and creation of beautiful future, but probably also has tremendous risks. Genetically Modified Product (GMP) is one of the fields that related to such problem. What kind of value tropism should we take in face of the combination of large market benefits and potential risks in order to make good use of technological development and to protect consumers' profits? This essay intends to discuss the law problem of consumer protection related to GMP on the basis of different methods such as demonstration analysis, value analysis and comparative analysis, etc.This essay firstly reviews our country's legislation status on the consumer protection of GMP, analyzes its existing defects, and indicates that it has the character of low administrative level, narrow applying scope, bad operating feature and clumsy marking system. Then, it continues to compare the relative legislation of USA, Europe Union, Japan and international treaties and then points out that America adopts the loose model of administration, Europe Union adopts the strict model and Japan splits the difference.Finally, the essay makes advice to perfect our legislation on consumer protection related to GMP, and states our legislation principles: venture precaution, respecting consumer, benefiting science research and technology development. And it also suggests that we establish risk assessment system, set up our special agencies for the test and inspection of GMP, constitute relative rules and standards in conformity with international treaties, build the policy of labeling regulations for non-GMP, and construct safe guarantee fund for GMP.
