As a foreign student from Laos studying in China, I am very concerned about the development of bilateral relations between Laos and China. I hope that the traditional friendship between the two countries can be expanded and deepened, with the development of good situations after the cold war. Therefore, I would like to analyze the historical evolution of the relationship between Laos and China and its influence factors.Taking the evolution of relations between Laos and China as a starting point and the current development of relations between the two as a reference, this thesis focuses on the main factors affecting above bilateral relations, covering the past and future development of relations between Laos and China. The main content of the thesis is as follows:The first part is about the historical evolution of bilateral relations between Laos and China, referring to the periods before the cold war, during the cold war and after the cold war. It is argued that in the long history of relations between Laos and China, the exchanges between the two peoples were very close. No matter politically or economically speaking, the bilateral relations are equal and mutually beneficial, in particular the close communication on border areas. During the cold war, the Sino-Laos relations were developed to struggle against the colonialism of France and the United States. However, it also went in the opposite direction because of the pressure from Vietnam and USSR. After the Cold War, the two countries have been moving towards a new stage of comprehensive cooperation, based on the common interest and fate. The second part concerns the current development of relations between Laos and China, summarizing the great achievements Laos and China reached in political, economic and cultural fields. According to the thesis, the two countries has formed relevant mechanisms for high-level visits in political field, which is beneficial for both to coordinate and support in international and regional affairs, to cooperate further for the border security and against transnational crimes, and to exchange experiences and learn from each other in governing party and state. In economic field, we can see the enlargement of mutual cooperation and continuous development of bilateral trade, in which border trade has become a light spot. In addition, China offers more and more assistance to Laos. Finally, personnel and cultural exchanges also continue to increase based on the cultural agreement reached by Laos and China. The third part focuses on the main factors affecting the future relations between Laos and China, referring to six aspects, such as ideology, relations among ASEAN, China and Laos, Vietnam, Taiwan, economic factors and Chinese in Laos. Considering the advantages and disadvantages in the Sino-Laos relations, the thesis argues that there are more advantages than disadvantages, which is the basis for bilateral relations. In the future, the main stream is good-neighborly and friendly cooperation, and we should be confident in the prospect of our bilateral relations.Based on the research of Chinese scholars, the thesis inspects the historical evolution of the relationship between Laos and China in details, and analyzes the main factors affecting the relations between Laos and China and its prospect of development. Although some new ideas emerge, due to factors such as language and data limitations, there are still many problems and shortcomings, which need further improving and refining.
