Criminal Psychology Applied In Criminal Investigation

We are facing challenges on criminal investigation work now: difficulty of the cases discovery, difficulty of searching and arresting criminal suspects and difficulty of interrogation of criminal suspects etc. It is impossible for those investigation personnel to solve all these problems with only the traditional investigatory means and it is necessary to apply the criminal psychology in criminal investigation work just as the use of DNA and other high technologies. The criminal psychology can play important roles in checking crime scenes, searching and arresting criminal suspects and interrogating of criminal suspects and other criminal investigation work.Chapter 1, The basic knowledge of criminal psychology and the use of criminal psychology in the criminal investigation. First the author introduced the basic criminal psychology knowledge including the concept and contents of the criminal psychology. Then the author discussed the necessity and possibility of application of the criminal psychology in criminal investigation work. Last the criminal psychology's main uses in criminal investigation activity were introduced.Chapter 2, Application of criminal psychology in checking crime scenes. First the author talked about the concept and the principle of criminal profiling then gave some proposals for its use and development in our country. At last, the author elucidated the functions of criminal psychology in checking crime scenes: 1.Decide whether to organize the different cases together or not in cases investigates according to the intercommunity of their criminal profiling; 2. Identify criminal's camouflage behavior according to the abnormality of the psychology trace; 3. contract the crime suspect scope or identify the criminal suspect in some cases according to the criminals'characteristic revealed in psychology trace. The author thinks: The checking crime scenes shouldn't limit in the material trace only, but should include the psychological trace, rebuild the criminal process scientifically and discover related case clues.The third chapter talked about application of criminal psychology in tracking down and arresting the criminal suspects. This part introduced the basic knowledge of tracking down and arresting criminal suspects, then analyzed the criminal suspects'mental state and characteristic after committing crime. Last the author elaborated the functions of criminal psychology in searching and arresting criminal suspects: decide criminal suspect's escaping route and the district according to his psychology, find an opportunity to catch criminal suspects by influencing his psychology. The author thinks: We can grasp criminal suspects'escaping behavior in advance and catch criminal suspects successfully if we can know criminal suspects'psychology.Chapter 4 is about application of criminal psychology in interrogation. This part introduced the concept and characteristics of interrogation first then analyzed the criminal suspects'mental characteristic and transformation in interrogation. Finally the author elaborated the functions of criminal psychology in interrogation: 1.construct interrogatory atmosphere according to criminal suspect's psychology in interrogation; 2.use interrogatory language skillfully according to criminal suspect's psychology in interrogation; 3.use proof skillfully according to criminal suspect's psychology in interrogation. The author thinks: the investigation personnel can increase their interrogatory level and the ability to solve difficult cases if only they know criminal suspect's anti-investigate psychology accurately.
