Indo-U.S. relations always swayed between cordiality and indifference during the Cold War. India established a friendship with Soviet Union. The U.S.-Pakistan alliance and Soviet-Indo friendship formed a contending strategic situation in South Asia.After the end of the Cold War, Indo-U.S. relationship has begun to improve. This article is component of three parts. The first part describes the U.S. policy toward India in the Clinton Administration and George·W·Bush Administration. The second part analyzes the internal and external factors which influence the decision of the United States government. The third part analyzes the influence upon the new policy.The U.S. policy toward India has changed after the Cold War. The U.S.-Indo relations are no longer bilateral relations. It is decided by the many kinds of diplomatic factor.
