Instrumentalist Scientific And Technological Value And The Modernization Of Military Technology In Late Qing Dynasty

The implementation of military technological modernization is closely related to the scientific and technological value. Under the"great revolution in late Qing Dynasty which was unprecedented in the past three thousand years", the feudal government was obliged to carry out military technological modernization through the instrumentalist approach.Taking into consideration the practical process of the modernization of military technology in late Qing Dynasty, the paper closely examines formation, establishment, and bankruptcy of instrumentalist scientific and technological value, illustrates why instrumentalism was the mainstream scientific and technological value in late Qing Dynasty, analyzes the loss and gain of instrumentalism during the military technological modernization in late Qing Dynasty. Based on the above, the final conclusion is reached: the prerequisite for military technological innovation is the systematic scientific and technological value.
