Transportation is closely related to trade and develops with the commodity production and exchange. In modern international trade, commodity circulation takes place in a much wider range in space and commodity transportation turns from one single country's issue to one international issue involving more than one country. Thus comes the need for the lawful cooperation in international transportation which constitutes an important part of modern international laws. In this article, the first part illustrates the background of lawful cooperation between China and Kazakhstan, beginning with the two routes - ancient"silk road"and new"Euro-Asia continent bridge"– on which the two countries have carried out trade and exchanges. The second part introduces the situations of China– Kazakhstan lawful cooperation in land transportation, with the emphasis on bilateral and international treaties already entered into. Existing problems in the cooperation are also mentioned in this part. In the third part, the author provides the enlightenment derived from the successful EU transportation law system to the two countries'cooperation. Based on analysis, the conclusion is drawn that cooperation in transportation laws is a precondition of trade integration. Finally, the article addresses how to further improve the two countries'transportation law systems, proposing an overall aim which is to achieve regional cooperation through China– Kazakhstan forging and fulfilling international treaties and improving the two countries'transportation law systems under the frame of Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a channel.
