The Research On The Governmental’s Role Of Guangdong’s Contribution To The Building Of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road

The building of 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road was a major strategic decision made during the 3rd Plenary Session of the 18 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is the ‘One Road, One Belt’ major strategic thinking proposed by President Xi Jinping, as well as a systemic program to develop cooperative friendship with countries along side maritime silk road bonded by economic and cultural ties. Guangdong is an important origin of maritime silk road, which plays an significant role in China’s foreign trade history and exchange history between the East and West. Thus, it should seize this major historic opportunity to get involved in the building of 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road.Throughout the history of mankind civilization, maritime silk road was a main tunnel for international exchanges, which bears the splendid chapter of development of global history and the blending of civilizations. Historically, the ancient maritime silk road was not only a transportation lifeline linking China and elsewhere in trade, but also a cooperation platform in economy, trade and culture. Based on historic heritage, the building of 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road is a new pattern for comprehensive cooperation with other countries in a wider range and higher level, meeting the requirements of the new era on the basis of our successful foreign trade experiences since the Reform and Opening up. This article aims to base upon history, keep an eye on the reality, face the future and carry out a comprehensive analysis on the development of maritime silk road.Opening up is an advantage of Guangdong’s development. However, in recent years,this competitive advantage is weakening slowly. From the perspective of the government role,this article will analyze the situation, features, malaise of exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and countries alongside the maritime silk road by deepening research on the development of maritime silk road. This article will try to make proposals in Guangdong’s engagement in the building of 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road on the national strategic level,so as to seek common interests for Guangdong against the new backdrop in the Asia Pacific Region and the world at large, to coordinate the situation home and abroad, and to take a long-term perspective in the strategy construction of cultivating a world-leading competitive edge in international economic cooperation.
