Guangxi And Its Aiding Vietnam In Its Anti-American War

The War of Anti-America and National Salvation is one of the hardest and proudest periods in the history of Vietnam. During the war, the Chinese government and people firmly supported its brotherly Vietnam, and Guangxi was always in the frontier of Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War for its unique geographical position. In order to help Vietnam and resist the military threat to the New China from America, Guangxi, according to the instruction of the CCP, undertook arduous tasks, such as providing effective aid and support in manpower, material resources and humanism, and so on, which aimed to guarantee Vietnam's victory in the war and meet the urgent needs in the country's economic recovery and people's life. According to the instruction of the CCP, Guangxi also aided Vietnam to found schools and hospitals in Nanning, Guilin, etc, and received more than 200 Vietnamese delegations. At the same time, peoples of all the nationalities in Guangxi actively helped some provinces in Vietnam to conquer the difficulty in the war and resume agriculture. All these indicates that Guangxi had made a great contribution to the War of Anti-America and National Salvation, which has been praised highly by the leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State.Till now, we have not seen any works and theses on the research of Guangxi and its Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War. We can only find it mentioned a little in such works as The Records of Foreign Affairs in Annals of Guangxi and works about the course of China's Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War, the rise and fall of Sino-Vietnamese relationship and the analysis of American aggressive war in Vietnam. The discussion on this topic seems dispersed and weak. This thesis is completed based on looking up, gathering, and tiding up a great deal of material, which come from Guangxi Autonomous Regional Archives and Records Service in Guilin, Annals of Guangxi and the related material in the annals of some counties and cities in Guangxi and interviewing some people concerned. The study is a comparatively comprehensive, objective and systematic analysis of the subject which is both familiar and strange to us, using the basic theories and methods in politics, history and international relations. The paper includes four parts. The first part introduces the background of Guangxi Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War, including the purpose and reasons of American aggressive war in Vietnam, the difficulties that the Vietnamese confronted in the War of Anti-America and National Salvation, the reason why China aided Vietnam in its Anti-American War and the advantageous situation Guangxi had in aiding Vietnam in the War. The second part focuses on the main content, methods and characteristics in Guangxi Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War. The third part is about the position and role of Guangxi in Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War. The last part analyzes the effect of the participation in the struggle on Guangxi itself. The conclusion of this thesis is that Guangxi Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War is an important part of China Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War, which is the frontier for China Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War and the direct rear base for the Vietnamese in this war; that the people of Guangxi have made a great contribution to the final victory of the war; that Guangxi Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War has enhanced the friendship between the two parties and two peoples of China and Vietnam; and that to some degree, Guangxi taking part in the struggle has also made a foundation for the development of Guangxi and provided some valuable experience for Vietnam's construction.Under the new situation that the Sino-Vietnam relationship is developing comprehensively, that regional co-operation is accelerating, and that the Sino-America relationship is becoming mature, the research on the relation of Guangxi and its Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War will help people know better the position, function and effect of Guangxi in its Aiding Vietnam in its Anti-American War, improve the traditional friendship between Sino-Vietnam peoples and the co-operation between the two nations.
