When the World War II ended, in order to restore its colonial rule, France returned to Indochina with the support of the United Kingdom. Thus, a series of conflicts between France and Ho Chi Minh's interim government broke out, which eventually led to the first Indo-China war. By the year of 1949, CCP (Chinese Communist Party) announced the founding of the People's Republic of China, while the France-Vietnam war was still going on. For historical links with Vietnam, relations between the two parties, taking into account China's national security and international obligations as well, and with the influence of the Soviet Union, the leaders of new China thought that they assist the Vietnamese to fight against France. Therefore, when the ICP (Indochinese Communist Party) Central Committee requested China for urgent assistance, the CCP leaders formulated the plan and implemented the strategy of aiding Vietnam to resist France. In the paper, while analyzing the complicated motives of the CCP leaders when they made their decisions and demonstrating that the ideological factor played the key role, the paper also focuses on the form and content of China's aiding Vietnam policy and makes a summary about it. China adopted a form of'Advisory Group playing major role, all-round way supporting'to help Vietnamese Communists, which proved to be feasible and effective. Before and during China's supporting for Vietnamese, for a variety of factors, the CCP leaders considered not sending troops to Vietnam, and adhered to this principle. In addition, contradictions occurred between the two sides while China and Vietnam communicated and coordinated with each other. However; at that time, the CCP's decision-making was featured with being flexible, rational and gradual, and Chinese leaders showed their unswerving respect for national independence and sovereignty not only for China itself, but for Vietnam as well. China's strong willingness and concrete efforts to safeguard herself and her neighbor had been fully reflected in that process. The paper also compares the policy of aiding Vietnam resisting France with that of resisting America aiding Korea, aiding Vietnam resisting US, so as to gain a deeper understanding for China's strategic thinking in aiding Vietnam policy.
