ASEAN Community: From Awareness To Constructing

The Geographical position and its strategic status of Southeast Asia are always of great significance in the geopolitics and world economics pattern. The scholars at home and abroad mostly take western social development as their research criterion to study the"ASEAN Way", ASEAN identity and the regional security issue. They pay less attention to the conceptual factor affecting the ASEAN development, which offers huger academic research space to the regional research.This article utilizes the unification method of history and logics on ASEAN community construction, which is to emphatically discuss the formation of the ASEAN Awareness and its influence on the ASEAN Community. In general, the ASEAN Awareness is not unipolarity which happens outside the memberships of the ASEAN, but it is a result of social construction of all the members of the ASEAN. The ASEAN Awareness is similar to the region consistency, but it is in fact different from the Southeast Asian region consistency. This dissertation is divided into three parts.The first part is to explain the basic theory of the research on ASEAN Community. It mainly involves the connotation and its characteristic, national interests, regional awareness and regional identity.The second part is to discuss the development of the Southeast Asia regionalism and the cultivation of the ASEAN awareness, which is mainly to talk about how to promote the cultivation of the ASEAN awareness with the help of the development of the Southeast Asia regionalism .Meanwhile, how the ASEAN awareness promote the ASEAN unification and further improve the regionalism.The third part is to discuss the construction of the ASEAN awareness and ASEAN community. It is also to talk about how the ASEAN awareness embodied in the process of the construction of the ASEAN community, ASEAN economical community and society- culture community.
