After cold war, the world situation has changed radically . In order to adapt the change , all countries of the world has had to adjust their foreign policy based on their own interests . As one of the most important bilateral relationship in south Asia and Indian ocean region , US-Pakistan strategic relationship has been also transformed profoundly . The great change of US-Pak relationship will inevitably influence the situation of south Asia and its circumference , including China .Therefor, it is very necessary to study the history of US-Pak relationship , the adjustment of US and Pakistani foreign policy and all factors which impulsed and embarrassed the development of US-Pak relationship during the post cold war era . This work will be good to us to realize the changing US and Pakistani foreign policy and the situation in south Asia . Furthermore , it will be helpful to us to face the complex situation in south Asia and in favor of managing a peaceful and stable neighbouring surroundings.This thesis is composed of 4 chapters . By researching the history and reality of US-Pak relationship , the author makes clear of the developing trail of US-Pak relationship . And based on it, the author makes a brief analysis of all factors which synchronously facilitated and baffled the developing of US-Pak relationship . And then , the author predicts that the changing US-Pak relationship will deeply impact the international situation on different levels .Chapter 1 is " The development of US-Pak relationship during the post cold war era " . It shows detailedly the history of US-Pak relationship during the post cold war era . After cold war , US and Pakistan adjusted their own foreign policy . In early 1990s , US-Pak relationship start to go down just because Pakitstan was not any longer a kind of important geostrategic resource to use to confront with USSR . Due ot need each other , US and Pakistan resumed bilateral relationship on some degree in mid1990s . But then , Pakistan made a series of nuclear tests and the military government came into being in late 1990s , it caused US-Pak relationship drop down to the lowest point. After "9.11" , US realized Pakistan's strategic value again , thus US-Pak relationship was rapidly upgraded to a new kind of "strategic alliance" in short time.Chapter 2 is "The factors facilitated US-Pak relationship" . US and Pakistan have some common interests in many fields or have similar standpoint on some international affairs , such as geostrategic goal, cooperation on military and security affairs , economic cooperation and developmect , bidirectional need on foreign affairs .These factors play active roles on developing of US-Pak relationship , and provide possibility for maintaining "US-Pak non-NATO strategic alliance" .Chapter 3 is "The factors baffled US-Pak relationship" . Although there are many reasons impulse US-Pak relationship , "US-Pak non-NATO strategic alliance" have to face a few troublesome problems . For example , the weakness of trust , divarication on nuclear problem , the completely different background of civil religious belief, and counterpoised by other series of bilateral relationgship such as US-India , Sino-Pak and Russia-Pak etc . These reasons destine the limitation of US-Pak relationship.Chapter 4 is "The impact on international situation by US-Pak relationship" . Both of the two states are acting as important roles on international affairs . As US-Pak relationship developing , the situation in relative region will be deeply influenced , for instance , US strategic status in south Asia and Indian ocean region , the , the general security situation and in this area , and China's security circumstance .In conclusion , US-Pak relationship is one of the most important bilateral relationship in south Asia and Indian ocean region . This thesis shows us a clear trail of US-Pak relationship's developing , and makes a rational analysis of its future...
