On Current Significance Of The Work For The Aged In Colleges And Universities And Countermeasures

The population aging is an objective law, which appears inevitably in certain stage of social development and cannot be changed by man's will. It is a great problem concerning social politics, economy and social development, which relates to the construction progress of socialist harmonious society. Doing the work of the aged in colleges and universities well, not only relates to the overall situation of reform, development and stability, but also actively facilitates the harmony and stability of family, school and society. In the new historical period, the work of the aged in colleges and universities should be carried out according to the characteristics and speciality of the retired group, to explore the development law of the work in practice, and summarize the experiences for deepening understanding, and make innovations continuously, to enhance the work of the aged to a higher level.This article is composed of foreword and four parts of text. The first part is the theoretical basis of study, which defines the population aging and systemically expounds the production, influence and tendency of population aging. The 21 century is the age that the world population becomes aging. When the world population and the population in developed countries walk up to population aging, the problem in China is increasing simultaneously. Aiming at the issue of population aging rapidly, to correctly analyze the causes, characteristics and development trend as well as influences possibly produced, is of great theoretical and practical significance for increasing the scientificity and feasibility, and coping with the serious challenges of population aging, and establishing correct strategic policies and tactics.The second part theoretically discusses the significance and effect of work of the aged in colleges and universities. First of all, work of the aged is the responsibility endowed by the times. The development of history and the advancement of society cannot be realized without hard struggle of the older generation. The development of history cannot be cut, and only by respecting the history created by the older generation, can we speed up the development and realize harmonious development universally. The work of retired colleges and university is the main part in the work of the aged colleges and universities If it isn't done well, if will affect the whole work, the work for political of the retired group is the very important aspect in the work of the aged. So to get the work of the aged in colleges and universities well done to put the aged to their potentials will benefit universities as well as our country. We must take the global situation into consideration to fully realize the great significance and effect of the work and strengthen our sense of responsibility and sense of mission to do the work of the aged well.The third part analyzes the present status and characteristics of the retired group in colleges and universities. Conclusions with universal law are drawn by analyzing the present status and characteristics of the retired faculties of colleges and universities, by individual investigation and analysis of a large amount of materials. The present status of the retired faculties of colleges and universities is: first, the number of retired faculties changes greatly. Second, for the educational level of the retired faculties is higher than the average one of the state, the problems reflected by the educational level and structure are different with those of other trades. Third, the speciality of different identities, levels, demands and psychologies of the old comrades determines the complexity of the retired faculties of colleges and universities. Fourth, our country is now in a reform period, complex and profound changes have taken place in social situation. The characteristics of the retired faculties of colleges and universities are: they have higher cultural quality and political consciousness, and they have rich experiences, in addition, they have strong awareness of social participation and wide social influence. According to the analysis on present status of the retired faculties, combining with the actual situation of colleges and universities, the writer believes that we should, as soon as possible, carefully analyze the influences of population aging at present and in the future on colleges and universities and forecast the development trend in the future, to actively discuss the favorable and unfavorable factors and study corresponding countermeasures gradually.The fourth part puts forward positive countermeasures and suggestions for well doing the work of the aged in colleges and universities in view of constructing harmonious society and campus. The first is healthy policy. The retired old comrades and cadres of colleges and universities are precious wealth of our Party and state, and excellent talents for realizing socialist modernization. Prevention of common diseases of the aged should be started with health education and health intervention, and prophylaxis and disease monitor, and physical examination should be carried out periodically, to realize prophylaxis and early cure of diseases, which also reflects humanitarianism for the aged. The second is participation policy. Current medical conditions should be applied to widen the health-caring channels. The functions of the recreation center for senior citizens should be made into full play. Rich and colorful recreation and sports activities should be carried out based on current recreational facilities.It will be an arduous task to develop the cause of the aged. The retired faculties of colleges and universities, a special group of people, are important intelligence resources and important power for reform, development and stability of colleges and universities. Therefore, strengthening the work of the aged in colleges and universities is an important task for work undertakers. We must explore and research the mode and method of the work of the aged in colleges and universities with a new perspective and thought, to actively cope with the challenges of population aging and push forward the development of work and cause of the aged in a comprehensive and healthy way.
