As a fundamental value tropism and principle to construct the ideal societies, the idea and thinking of equality has been of long standing in human history. Under the guidance of the various ideas of equality, there have appeared different equality. They are mainly the primitive equality among the members of the primitive clans and tribes, the equality among the citizens in the Ancient Greece and the ancient Roman empire, the general equality before God in the doctrine of Christianity in the Middle Ages, the human equality in the Renaissance, the born equality alleged by natural law school, and the equality of everyone before law, established by modern bourgeoisie revolution, up to the proletariat equality views of the Marxism. The evolution of the concept of the equality reflects and concentrates the development of human political thinking and political practice from a perspective. The historical materialism, which was postulated first by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, put the equality view on a scientific foundation. Marx and Engels stressed the historicity of the ideas of equality and rights. Both the development and their realization of the idea of equality and rights is restricted by the development of productivity. The idea of equality may serve for different classes; and the different classes may endow the concept of equality with different content; the different types and content of the concept of equality require the different classes to realize and carry out. Marx and Engels expressed scientifically the proletariat's requests for equality, and the fundamental conditions and ways about how to strive for and obtain the final realization of the proletariat's requests for equality. After the Marx and Engels's effort, under the historical background of realization in the leap of socialism from theory to practice, the Marxists in various countries developed the theory of Marxist equality according to the actual situation of their own countries. Lenin based on the particular circumstance, drawn up a series of laws and policies to endow the equality with brand-new content. Mao Zedong inclined to realize the equality of the social.members in the fields of politics and economy basing on the foundation of socialist public ownership of the means of production. Deng Xiaoping proposed properly the theory that it is better to allow some people and some areas get rich first, and then to let these people and areas help the poor people and the poor areas to get rich second, and in the end to realize the common enrichment of the whole society, according to the social and economical conditions of China in the seventies of the twentieth century. In the light of the successful practice of the theory of Deng Xiaoping mentioned above and the policy of reform and open-door, which had been carried out for about thirty years since 1978, thel7th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, which was held in October 2007, decided that the Party should continually holds the banner of the socialism with Chinese feature, that is, should continually strive under the guidance of the theory of Deng Xiaoping mentioned above, the important idea of Three Representatives, and the idea of scientific development, in order to build China into a comparatively well-off and harmonious society in a rather short period of time. In short, the successful practice of the policy of reform and open-door in the past thirty years demonstrates and proves perfectly that the ideas of equality of the three generations of the highest leaders of the Chinese Communist Party, that is, the ideas of equality of Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and Hu jintao, is the most suitable ideas of equality for Chinese people to strive at present because their ideas of equality are based on present reality of China and can bring China quicker and earlier into a society which will have realized a higher degree of equality.
