Interest Coordination-the Basis Of Constructing Socialism Harmonious Society

Interest is a fundamental issue to the existence and development of human beings. All that people fight for are closely related to their interest. Interest has become one of the motivating factors that promote the movement of social contradiction. All the complicated social phenomena can be explained from the perspective of interest. A network of interest relations is formed among the many interest subjects, the interest subjects and objects, and the various objects of the same subject. The coordinated development of interest relations is the essence of the development of human society.According to the analysis of the content of interest from the perspective of its nature, characteristics and functions, different opinions are proposed concerning the issue of interest within the academic circle. Interest is a dynamic and historic concept. Narrowly speaking, interest refers to the social relationships among individuals, communities and individuals, and different communities as a result of social practice. Based on the production relations, these relationships also apply to the political, cultural, and ideological fields. While broadly speaking, interest is the outcome of the interactions among the subjects, the subject activities, and the external world. In the whole history of social changes, interest conflict has been the basic reason of social revolutions and social system changes, and interest has been an effective lever in promoting the productivity development and social progress.According to the theory of interest coordination proposed by both Marxist classic writers and the Western Economics, the basic content of interest coordination should be understood from the static and dynamic aspects. On the one hand, interest coordination is the harmonious co-existence of different interest subjects and objects, and the different aspects of the same interest subject. On the other hand, interest coordination is human's purposeful and conscious activities to solve the conflict of interest. Interest Coordination is both the method and result of resolving interest disparity, contradictions, and conflicts.During the 30 years' reform and opening up, China has made noteworthy achievements in her socialistic modernization construction and has reached general well-off level. Currently, our nation has taken on a series of stage characteristics in her development. Reform is facing deeper contradictions and problems; the balance and coordination of various interest parties comes across more difficulties; social structure, organizational forms, and interest framework have undergone profound changes. The diversification of interest entity, the enlargement of interest disparity, and the clarity, complexity, and communitization of interest conflicts have been the new features of conflict of interest. Besides, problems like the enlargement of the gap between the rich and the poor, social differentiation, and corruption have posed severe potential threat to the build-up of a harmonious society. In this paper, the writer aims to explore the fundamental status of interest coordination from the perspectives of the realistic background, basic connotation, and practice process of building a socialist harmonious society.To construct an interest coordination mechanism which includes interest expression, interest distribution, interest compensation, and interest restraint, we must resolutely adhere to the principles of people-oriented, livelihood-centered, scientific development, interest harmonization and follow the principles of fairness and justice, interest sharing, appropriate support, interest compensation, so as to realize the maximum coordination of the interest relations of various social strata and achieve the the harmonious development of our socialist society.
