Contemporary Regime Party In Russia And Its Influence On The Democracy

The first part of this paper introduces the history of regime party in Russia. Regime party appeared in Yeltsin governance and became a great character of Russian politics in Putin's period. Then author puts emphasis on analyzing the two important regime parties United Russia party and Just Russia party existing now in Russia, contrasts differences between them including their political standing, social supporting, date of establishing, main leaders, status in the parliament and concern with the president. Thus we can understand this phenomenon comprehensively and deeply, find the reason giving birth to it, know clearly its historical and cultural background.The last half part mainly introduces relation between regime party and democracy. In the Putin's period, democracy went through controllable democracy and sovereign democracy. During the prophase of Putin's governance, United Russia party was growing with controllable development. And during the anaphase of Putin's governance, United Russia party is the promoter of sovereign democracy which is the new method of democracy. Since it came into existence, Just Russia party has claimed to support Putin's policy. During these periods, the two regime parties play important roles especially in the election of parliament and president. Under the present political environment, regime parties play its role and show its existence by parliament election. But the president has the supreme power and control the election of parliament. So this election is accordance with the election of president.Regime parties have gradually developed under the support of Putin, but their functions are limited in the president centralization system. So we can say that regime parties are the result of Russian democracy development and real reflection of disadvantages of Russian democracy. This conclusion can be drawn that regime party can not become the governing party and will exist under the shade of the president for a long time. This phenomenon is based on the social tradition and gets the protection of constitution and law. Although the criticism of western countries for democracy of Russia has been often heard, the regime party phenomenon will definitely continue and expand. Since every country has its own character, it has its own road of democracy development. With the political tradition, Russia not only advocates the democracy and value of Europe but also changes and perfects its own democracy by taking advantage of European democracy. But Russia will keep its character. So the democratic difference of Russia and Europe will exist for a long time. In any way, Russian democracy will make a great development in the future.
