Although the most of discussions concerned were focused on Rawls' difference principle related to the policy of welfare state, this dissertation pays more attention to the logical basis of his new contractualism. Fundamentally, the contractualism is a design for modernity because of its natural connection with modernity based on the subjectivity. From this perspective the dissertation author has found some past controversial ideas such as liberty and equality, become more explicit, while the contractualism itself more substantial.
