On The Functions Of Ideology

At present, the construction of ideology in China faces a series of stern challenges. Modern society's openness has diversified the Chinese ideology leads various impacts and corrosions to the mainstream ideology, and makes it weak in cohesion and dilute in common recognition, and eventually brings the thought foundation of the incumbent party under various impacts. The sequential result is that the guidance work of national mainstream ideology became more difficult than ever. Therefore, the construction of ideology is one important problem that has to be faced and solute. It has great theoretical and practical significances to research and discuss the disciplines of the development of the functions and construction of ideology, to strengthen the construction of our country's ideology, and to make full use of it to serve the construction of harmonious society.Based on the presentation of concepts and characteristics of ideology, this thesis mainly expatiates on the functions of ideology and its way of realization. Firstly, Chapter gives a review on the concepts of ideology. To begin with, author traces the concept of ideology to its origin and makes detailed explanation and analysis to the concepts of Marxism ideology and some relative theory, which were brought forward by Marx, Engel, Lenin, Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao's and several other celebrated western Marxism scholars. Based on this, author gives her own definition of the ideology, and analyzes main elements and contents of the concept of ideology. This chapter focuses on the history of the concepts of ideology, and takes it as logical origin of research. chapter descript the main characteristics of ideology by reviewing the historical development of theories and practices of ideology. As a fundamental part of this research, this chapter focuses on the class nature, the critique, the practicality and the permeability of ideology. Base on the recognition of the characteristics of ideology, chapter stresses on the functions of ideology, in detail, the classification and performance of its function. Among them, author mainly applies her attention to the function of maintenance, the function of guidance (including the function of education), the function of culture and the function of condensation and conformity. Finally, the text elaborates concrete ways and means of its realization and devotes in probing of the three main channels of the prevalence of ideology: populace media, education, society. Meanwhile, author also indicates the tools and ways used in the realization of different functions, such as, the thought political education, the political party, the policy and the cultural industry. The conclusion part points out that the researches, which aim at the concrete ways of realization of the functions of ideology, have theoretical and practical significance to the current construction work of our country's ideology.
