Khmer Rouge movement in Cambodia is one of the important parts of the Communist and Socialist movements. It provided lots of materials for the research of the universal socialist movements, because it had special beginning, special development, and special result. Its starting had close relations with Cambodian national independence. Because Norodom Sihanouk was deposed , they can cooperate with Sihanouk ,and then , they took the power, Democratic Kampuchea was born. Under the rule of Khmer Rouge, there are too many wrong policies. We were told that the "left" would be very harmful for the socialism construction. And Khmer Rouge was wiped out because some huge countries control the war and control the conference for peace. Obviously because they dropped themselves, they were wiped out.In this thesis, I intend to observe and study the history of Khmer Rouge, based on the background of the international communist movements, to analyze the reasons of its success and failure, to summarize its sorrowful experiences, so that the international communist movements, together with our socialism construction would learn from it. There are five parts in this thesis: The first part, introduces why it was called "Khmer Rouge", and some leaders of this organization. The second part, introduces the birth of Khmer Rouge, and analyze why they grew stronger. The third part, briefly describes the magnificent and moving history of how it was able to rise, how it was able to take power, and introduce the policies of the government controlledby Khmer Rouge. The forth part ,analyzes why was the Khmer Rouge wiped out--the international and domestic factors that lead to Khmer Rouge movement's failure and further points out that the fundamental reason for its failure. The last part, summarizes what we can learn from Khmer Rouge movement. For example, how to make right policy, how to build the Communist Party, how to treat with scholars, and so on.
