Ever since the printing of Man.festo cfthe Communist Parly 1848, the communist movements have swept across the whole world step by step. Especially since the beginning of the 20th century, the movements in the world have made great strides with huge achievements, which attracts innumerable people to yearn for. However, the song of triumph is accompanied by sad melodies. The KHMERE ROUGE movement that existed in the late 20th century is one typical example that is sure to let you sigh and ponder. In this thesis, the writer intends to observe and study the tragic history of KHMERE ROUGE, based on the background of the international communist movements, to analyze the reasons of its success and failure, to summarize its sorrowful experience, so that the international communist movements, together with our socialism construction would learn from it. The thesis falls into four parts. The first part is designed to track KHMERE ROUGE history of prosperity and failure. This part briefly describes the magnificent and moving history of how it was able to rise, how it was able to take power, how it was outlawed to the greenwood, and how it was defeated finally. The second part mainly examines the reasons why KHMERE ROUGE sprang up in the early period and came back to activity in the late period, which points out that, facing the changeable situation at home and abroad, the KHMERE ROUGE headed by POLPOT, representing the benefits and demand of the overwhelming majority in Cambodia at that time, grasped the favorable opportunity, and thus gained the victory by stage. The third part analyzes the international and domestic factors that lead to KHMERE ROUGE movement's failure and furtherpoints out that the fundamental reason for its failure goes nowhere but itself. This part demonstrates that it is because KHMERE ROUGE departed from Marxism and didn't advance with the epoch that KHMERE ROUGE was defeated bitterly in the end. The fourth part finally sums up the lessons that KHMERE ROUGE left to the international communist movements. This part holds that the CCP (the Communist Party of China) must advance with the epoch. In other words, only by adhering to Marxism and fulfilling "the Three Representatives" Theory can CCP lead an invincible country.
