The Study On American Diplomacy From The Perspective Of Cultural Values

Cultural values as a historical accumulation plays a subtle influence on diplomacy. American culture values have been affecting U.S. foreign policy formulation and implementation. Cultural factors have an important impact on the diplomatic relations in the United States. It branded the national cultural characteristics on American diplomatic relation.The important source of U.S. foreign policy formulation and diplomatic tradition forming is the "mission concept", "savior" and the "racial superiority" in cultural values in the United States. American foreign policy and diplomatic actions in different periods have close relationship with American culture. The Isolationist sentiments and the expansionist tendencies as well as the ideological color and the realistic state of mind in the United States foreign policy which are rooted in their thinking as the derivative of cultural values play an irreplaceable role in the formulation of the foreign policy. These cultural values influencing American diplomatic policy deeply rooted in American culture. When they are embodied on the specific diplomatic decision-making policies, in most cases they have become an eloquent explanation of a pursuit of self-interest.Observing and analyzing international issues of the contemporary international political theory from the cultural perspective is a hot topic of research. In the study, we found that the cultural values in the United States foreign policy will not go beyond self-interest, on the contrary, they have become the means which help to achieve political, economic and security interests. As the only existing superpower, the United States plays a decisive role in current international affairs. The American foreign policies have a profound impact on their own development or on the other countries. The role of cultural values has been effective imperceptibly. The American people are continuing to strengthen and consolidate the world's dominant position through the use of "soft power".This paper analyzes the cultural factors in American foreign policy from the point of view of cultural values. On the one hand, it will analyze the connotation of cultural values, the historical origin and the core contents; on the other hand, it will analyze the impact on American foreign policy by the cultural values of the United States. Therefore we can study the American diplomatic relation from the new cultural perspective. This essay will relate in three chapters. The first chapter describes the basic connotation of cultural values and the core contents. Mainly starting with the unique ethnic and cultural origins of the United States, it analyzes the origin of American cultural values influencing on the United States diplomatic thinking and highlights its core content. From the strong "moral color" of the cultural values, we can look at the role of its sacred cloak again.The second chapter analyzes the impact on the United States foreign policies by the core values. By analyzing the essence of the mainstream of thinking in the cultural values, it recalls the ideological root and the developmental process of all foreign policies in different periods. Through revealing the relations between the cultural values and the United States foreign policy as well as diplomatic acts, it refines the close relations between the isolationism, expansionism, idealism and realism and American diplomacy.The third chapter analyzes the American diplomatic acts influenced by the American cultural values. Through vigorously output of democratic values and human rights, it revealed the main means of the foreign diplomacy. With the "Manifest Destiny Mission" and "racial superiority", it has the deep study about the impact on the United States diplomacy by the cultural values. The U.S. foreign cultural expansion is the purpose of the new diplomatic means to "Defeat the Enemy Without Fighting" in the new historical era of the United States. The close relationship between "Soft power" and American diplomatic acts of the United States has enabled us to have a more profound understanding on the interests of the United States diplomacy in real terms.Therefore, the in-depth analysis on the cultural values of the United States helps us to better understand and grasp the origins of American foreign policy from the deep cultural perspective. It has important theoretical value and practical significance. In this paper, the biggest advantage is the re-interpretation of the American diplomatic acts from the perspective of the culture. Through the exploration of the ideological essence of the cultural values, we can have a better diplomatic platform. Of course, there are a lot of shortcomings. Because of the lack of research data and the lack of theoretical research by themselves, I can't form a new perspective on the issue. Hope to constantly enhance the ability to research issues within a new cultural perspective on ideas, and contribute to solving the new problems as well as making new research.
