This thesis is intended to explore Sino-British Comprehensive Strategic Partnership under the background of globaliztion.Sino-British relations can be traced back to the late of 16th century. It has been developed in ups and downs since the Opium War in 19th century. The peaceful handover of Hong Kong back to China has opened a new page of Sino-British relations. Hence, tremendous and stable achievements have been made through joint efforts made by governments of both countries. In 2004, both countries issued a Joint Declaration to set up Sino-British Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which identified that Sino-British bilateral relationship was further consolidated and improved. Since 21st century, international and global situations vary more unpredictably; an accurate knowledge of current and future situation of Sino-British relations is of utmost strategic value to the governments and the people of both sides. This thesis explores the progressive development of Sino-British relations, analyses and shows the current situation of the relations' development. It also examines the bilateral relations in such fields as economy, politics, culture, education, science, technology, military, anti-terrorism, energy and environment, etc., especially after Gordon Brown was elected as the new Prime Minister. In spite of this, such negative factors as Taiwan issue, Tibet issue and Human rights are still interfering with the normal development of two countries' relations. Although Sino-British relations are complicated and multifaceted, it is the general trend in international relations that dialogue instead of confrontation, cooperation instead of differences in the time of globalization and interdependence are growing greatly. Any single problem can not hinder the two countries working together to develop the comprehensive strategic partnership in the 21st century. The thesis concludes that under the new world situations there is still a lot of space of cooperation and development for both countries. Under the background of complex international environment and gloomy economic situation, in order to further promote the comprehensive strategic partnership and realize cooperation and win-win in real sense and make full use of complementary advantages, both China and Britain need to further adjust their foreign policies, seize opportunities and challenges, continually deepen cooperation and exchanges in the fields of political and economic, culture and education, as well as military.
