Modernization Of The Traditional Chinese Political Culture

Political culture, as a profound social political phenomenon, has direct effects on the development on political stability and systematic legitimacy. Furthermore, it also brings far-reaching influence on the economic and social development. The passive and backward conception in traditional Chinese political culture has been the inner barrier to China's all-around modernization; therefore, the new pattern for political culture system which is in accordance with China's modernization should be established in the process of carrying forward China's modernization. Building the advanced socialist political culture with Chinese characteristics, developing socialist political civilization, furthering the modernization of traditional Chinese political culture are the goals in our political cultural construction. Political cultural construction in the society transforming period especially the way of realizing the transformation of political culture is one of the key areas in contemporary study of contrastive politics, the focus of this thesis as well. This thesis, based on the social historical materialism theory, the primary stage of socialism theory, the establishment of a socialist political civilization theory, takes Marxist dialectical and historical materialism methodology as its basis, and with the assistance of history analysis law, makes interdisciplinary study. It also takes the breakthrough point of social changes and historical situation in the social transform period to make a summary of the history and current situation of China's political cultural transformation, basing on which the thesis further analyzes the restraining factors for the modernization of traditional Chinese political culture and explores the goals, content, and the realizing means for the modernization of traditional Chinese political.The thesis includes an introduction and three parts.Part one has summarized the definitions of culture given by both home and abroad scholars, scientifically implicates the connotation of political culture and its function and the approaches to transform. Usually there are two kinds of transform, i.e. short dyadic transform (reformation) and long radical period (revolution). In this context, this thesis focuses on the latter one. Finally, the thesis, also introduces the theoretical basis and its methodology.Part two puts its emphasis on the basic requirements and characteristics of Chinese tradition politics, which is based on the small-scale peasant economy that supported by the maximal proprietary right of country. Outside it depends on the administration strength centering on autocracy royal prerogative, while inside it relies on the patriarchal clan system taking blood which takes lineage as link to lay a solid base for the tradition politics culture. Chinese tradition politics culture though exists a few positive factors, but brandly speaking, it has its limitations due to the times. Therefore, the impact of Chinese traditional politics culture on Chinese society has two poles. According to all above, this thesis briefly summarizes the restraint factors for social transform and traditional modern and realistic aspects to analyze the situation of the present Chinese politics culture.Part three has set forth for the necessity of Chinese tradition politics culture, explores the target of transform: from the traditional people trend concept to people oriented political culture; from genearch departmentalism to democracy politics; form people government to law government; from the concept of centralization to the concept of decentralization; from subject consciousness to citizen consciousness; from authority departmentalism to right departmentalism; from the pursuit of radicalness to the concept of gradual advancement. This thesis, according to the target of Chinese tradition politics culture, exactly grasps its main artery and vein to guide the development with scientific government concept. In a word, this thesis explores the approaches of the Chinese tradition politics culture, i.e. to adjust civil society politics mentality, to perfect the politics socialization channel, to accelerate develop socialist market economy, to deepen political restructuring and to improve self-governance among villagers.
