It has been 160 years since amultitude of Chinese immigrated to the United States. The population of Chinese Americans is about 3.53 million at present, which is the largest among Asian Americans. In the religious country, the United States, the Chinese religions belief is a valuable theme. According to the surveys, Christian is the largest religion among contemporary Chinese in America, Buddihism the second, and the third is Taoism, Confucianism and other Chinese traditional folk beliefs, existing a religious diversity. As a nation without religious tradition, the most Chinese in American believe in Christianity, and the reasons are worthy to research. Moreover, the progress of Chinese traditional religions and folk beliefs is included in our study. It's due to that there're significant differences between the cultures of sending and receiving countries, the religions belief of Chinese Americans is so particular, and exerts profound influence on many aspects. This theses is divided in three parts: The first part provides a history of Chinese immigration with changes of American immigration policy before 1970s, and a succinct description of them during this period, as the background; Followed that is the article's main part, elaborates on the current status of contemporary Chinese Americans'religion beliefs, including Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and other religions, mainly on Christianity; Based on the former discourse, the final part deduces the characteristics of Chinese religions belief, analyzes the reasons, and concludes the profound influence that its Chris believes brings.The research of Chinese American religions belief widepreads the scope and area of the Chinese study.It's hoped that my crude remarks may draw forth by abler people.
