Starting with the brief history of the economical and social development in Akesai Kazak Autonomous County and the immigration of Han people, taking the material obtained by field work in some community of Han immigrants in Akesai as fundamental, this paper tries to represent objectively the present culture and the media contact patterns of the Han immigrants in Akesai by means of "sketch", and by connecting with the local national relations as well as the respective cultural characters of the local Kazak and the Inland Han people, the paper discusses the principles such as the influencing factors, the general direction and trend, the historic course and the nature of the cultural changes and development of the Han immigrants in the specific natural and social environment of Akesai. Thus, the paper is proposed to be able to provide some valuable material of case study for the issues such as the cultural pass, development and innovation of the local Han immigrants and Kazak, the construction of harmonious relations between nationalities, the modernization of the local society and so on.Based on the field work about the daily media contact patterns of the Han immigrants, the paper points out : convenience, economy and not to conflict with the practical business are the prerequisite to the media contact of the Han immigrants, the contact aims at pursuing practical functions, showing some kind of utilitarianism; the contact is proposed to serve the practical life, whether to contact and what contents to contact are both decided by practical life. By observing the immigrants' contact patterns of the media coverage about the Peking Olympics, this paper holds that the media's grand communication ceremony focusing on the Olympics did not raise wide echoes among the immigrants, correspondingly the ideological construction by the relevant departments did not evoke general sympathy. Finally, the paper analyzes the background, the general direction and trend of the cultural changes of the Han immigrants in Akesai county, the course in which and the reason for which the cultural traditions of the immigrants are being partly lost, the laws existing in the cultural fusion and interaction of the immigrants and the local Kazak, also the immigrants' adaptation for and approval of the local society of Akesai as a localization course. The paper reaches the conclusion that more spontaneity than consciousness and self-examination exists in the cultural changes of the Han immigrants and in the whole cultural development of Akesai. Thus, the real cultural modernization has a long way to go.
