Study On Virtuous Relationship Between Public Security Work And Press Media

So to speak, the public security organ has been aware of the importance of guide of public opinions and is putting it into practice. Besides the existing publicity department, the Public Security Bureau of Wenzhou City set up Police Weekly in 2001 as a major position for external publicity. The bureau leaders attached great importance to and gave strong support for it. However, there are many problems occurring in its implementation so that its effect is not desirable and it can't shoulder the difficult task of guiding the positive public opinions in the event of emergencies or crises. If no ways are found to solve those problems, the sound development of public security will be blocked seriously.This article is based on relevant theories on public security and journalism to expound the importance of establishing a virtuous relationship between public security work and press media plus existing problems in that relationship. Based on that, the author lists four mainstream mechanisms between public security work and press media at present, analyzes weaknesses and deficiencies of them and gives his opinions on the better ways to establishing a virtuous relationship between them: in the first place, the author thinks it's necessary to strengthen communication to find the optimal communication channels and coordination points; in the second place, it's necessary to strengthen study on many elements like the best time of press intervention, release content extent and communication effectiveness, striving to avoid a passive situation after crises and ensure the safety of core confidential information of the public security; in the third place, it's necessary to strengthen study on difference on internal and external problems, make efforts in internal reference and enhance internal supervision; in the last place, it's necessary to strengthen study on the setting of discussion topics to be able to lead public opinions in the event of emergencies or crises to remove the opposite.Last but not least, the author takes the example of Police Weekly to apply the above viewpoints in the form of an example to further demonstrate those viewpoints' feasibility and operability.
