Researches On Psychological Transformation Of Prisoners Of War By Chinese People's Volunteers During The Korean War

The issue of prisoners of war(POW)is one of the important objects being studied by many disciplines. The issue of psychological transformation of POW involved in this thesis is the object researched by the psychological warfare in the theory of political operations. Based on systematic discussion of the background of question for study, the thesis , from the viewpoint of psychological warfare,firstly discusses the connotation of psychological transformation concept of POW,its research status quo and significance as well as research methods, which is defined as that,POWs'psychology transformation takes place an active transformation under the effect of related exterior conditions and information created by lockup and through the process of psychological activities such as all-sided cognition, experience and apperception.Secondly, the thesis systematically sums up the basic contents, characteristics and principal strategies of the Volunteers for promotion of POW's psychological transformation. Its basic contents are turning foe into friendly cooperation, turning dread sense into safety sense and turning doubt into trust. Its main characteristics are being of policy,technique, profoundness and creativity. Its main principles are practical and realistic,keeping the peace and attaching most importance to effect. And then, the paper discusses strategy,mode and mechanism of the Volunteers for promotion of POW's psychological transformation, including transformation by management, education and influence by use of the theory of psychology. Its mode are three factors'mutual effect of exterior stimulate, object and course. Its mechanism includes diffuse of information, individual stimulate, colony psychology effect and integrated insure effective mechanism. Finally, based on"three points of conclusion"and"three points of enlightenment", the paper makes suggestions on strengthening ideological preparation, theoretical and technological preparation and POW managing personnel preparation, in order to do well the work of POW's psychological transformation in the new surrounding.
