A Study On The International Political Sigenificace Of The Lao Tzu's Thought

The Lao Tzu's thought is of a special treasure of Chinese traditional culture. For a long time, much emphasize has been put on to the Lao Tzu thought's guiding significance of individual acting. Not until the end of the 20th century did the Chinese and foreign scholars widely affirmed the attribute of political philosophy of Lao Tzu's thought. The birth of the Lao Tzu's politics philosophy is closely related with the era context, based on Lao Tzu's world view and outlook on life, holding the political quintessence of'Tao follows nature', to temporize and to gain harmony by never behave unscrupulously, and finally attain pantisocrasy that citizens live in peace and enjoy one's work, no intrusion of war, as well as all countries get along with others harmoniously. The international political significance of Lao Tzu's thought will be well savored by in-depth excavation and development to the Lao Tzu's political philosophy.With the development of globalization and multipolarity, the relationship between countries is becoming more and more intimate and complicated due to the effect by numerous factors such as economy, politics and culture. Special attention should be paid to the increasingly prominent difference and disagreement between civilization after the 9·11 disaster, meanwhile, the international political situation shows a general peace synchronized continuous and even exaggerating local conflicts. How to bridge the different national values and behavior, reduce the war, conflict and the casualties of people, strive for a peaceful, harmonious, and pantisocrasic international political structure, is not only an aspirations harboring by all human beings, but also the final requirements of human development. These wishes, however, can find the reference and draw the lessons in Lao Tzu's thought. This dissertation begin with the definition of Lao Tzu's thought being a kind of political philosophy, analyzing the background, the main contents and characteristics of Lao Tzu's political philosophy, and illustrating the Lao Tzu thought's great significance to the international politics from three aspects: Lao Tzu's thought and humanitarian in the international politics, Lao Tzu's thought and survival philosophy in the international politics, and Lao Tzu's thought and the principles of balance of power in international politics, stating that a new pattern of international politics, which can be defined of pursuing peace, striving for harmony, respecting nature, guaranteeing equality, is undoubtedly the fundamental guarantee of human's progress and sustainable development. The Lao Tzu's thought, will also play an increasingly important role in this process.
