Pre-Qin Idea Of People-Orientation And Its Modern Value

Chinese culture has a long history. Many essential ideas are still sparking invaluably after thousands of years of cleansing and baptism, of which pre-Qin idea of people-orientation is one. It is a valuable resource left by the traditional culture for us to draw on today.Throughout Chinese ideology of traditional culture,the idea of people-orientation in pre-Qin period occupied a pivotal position in terms of both theoretical depth and political practicability. The people-orientation idea in pre-Qin period is well worth studying in the mere context of promoting excellent culture or from the point of view of reviewing traditional political ideas or the theoretical value of political philosophy. More importantly, the idea of people-orientation, the political ideas and the values of the period, all display a strong practical significance in response to the fetters in the social-political, economic and cultural development. In view of this, it's especially necessary to do some carding about the history of the idea of people-orientation in pre-Qin period.In order to review the process of derivation, development and formation of the people-orientation idea, we should sum up the basic connotations of the idea from the following five aspects:its core philosophy and political ideas, the theory of loving-people and enriching-people, and the mentality of obeying-people. On this basis, this paper elaborated on its historical limitations and historical and contemporary values, and made a dialectical evaluation of the idea, of which the inspiration of the idea of people-orientation in pre-Qin period to the contemporary society remained the focus of attention of this paper.The focus of the paper lies in the review of the contemporary value of the idea of people-orientation in pre-Qin period. It revealed the contemporary value of the idea from the construction of the idea itself, political civilization and a harmonious society, and the sinicization of Marxism, i.e., from the three levels of politics, economy and culture. The basic idea of the paper is to find from the valuable ideology of pre-Qin idea of enriching-people the meeting points with contemporary idea of people-being-their-own-masters, the construction of the ruling party and people's welfare, the development of education, and the practice of the ideas of governing-for-the-people and people-centered, so as to fulfill the purpose of serving the present with the past and provide useful inspirations for the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics and a harmonious society. At the same time, the revelation of the contemporary values of traditional culture is a perspective which is used for reserching the evolution and transformation of traditional culture in the modern virtually. So it is also significant for the exploration of the path of the creative transformation of it.
