Study On The Role Of The Media In Justice Report In The Transition Period

In the past three decades following the start of China's reform and opening to the outside world in 1978, the pace of the society transition gradually speeds up, the stratified differentiation and the gap between the rich and the poor are growing, and benefit-based relationships become more and more complex. These changes result in the conflict among the different benefit subjects and display a state of gaming by multiplied powers; therefore, as the independent benefit subjects, the media and the justice both have to circulate among the different benefit subjects. However, the media reports of justice cause controversy frequently, which throw the media into role confusion.Starting from the contradiction between this reality, the paper analyzes the game relationship and other benefit factors between the media and the justice, in order to hopefully find out the crux of the problem, and develop a state of much more reason and relative equilibrium to reach a win-win situation, and at the same time, to lead the media to ascertain its role orientation and undertake the relative social responsibility.This paper is divided into six parts. The first part is introduction. Based on the formers' studies, this part introduces the background relative to this paper, and the origin, meanings and methods of study of the topic.The second part summarizes the function of justice report by the media. The social function on the media's shoulders is the basis and premise of role orientation of the media.The third part discusses the current social characteristics in the transition period and the new problems that justice reports met, and introduces the role confusion of the media. Social transition, stratified differentiation, and adjustment of benefit-based relationship continue to result in social conflict. With the imperfect of legal system, justice unfairness and corruption of justice frequently occur; many typical cases appear and cause debate frequently. Justice reports by the media are subject to many factors, and the media gets into trouble of role confusion.The forth part analyzes the benefit-based game between the media and the justice and the four factors that influence their game relationship. These benefit factors influence the choice of game strategy between the media and the justice. However, the media and the justice also treat these factors as the pieces of game.Following the forth part, the fifth part finds the solutions of win-win between the media and the justice by the analysis of the game process above.The sixth part returns to explore the role of the media in justice report. The reason why confusion of the media arises is that the media is lost when it faces the sieges of numerous benefits and appeal of self-benefit. Media has to return to its basic functions in order to clear its role confusion. Therefore, to strengthen its awareness of function and responsibility will lead the media to play its roles better, as gatekeeper, watcher of social stability, edge tool of supervision by public opinion, scale to balance the benefits of all parties, and guardian of social justice, which achieves a win-win in the justice report...
