Disarmament is an everlasting topic, which occupies a very important position in international relations studies. The modern international conferences on disarmament that originated in the late 19th century coincided with a period during which the United States of America undertook a major development period of their navy. In this paper, we rethought a period of American naval history between the end of 19th century to the 30's of the 20th century by the perspective of international disarmament. The modern U.S. Navy rose in the late 19th century, but acquired the real advantage during the first disarmament conference, Washington Conference. Later in the process of the development of international disarmament, The USA had as its primary intention the limiting of other naval powers while continuing to build its own fleet and pursue its own role in the world.
