Neo-liberalism And Democratic Socialism

Neo-liberalism and democratic socialism are two more important social thoughts in our country. They will be analyzed and studied in this paper to provide some thinking resources for the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.Neo-liberalism is the product of the capitalist economic, political and social contradictory development. Its development went through three stages:formation, vigorous development and expansion. Its main schools include:the London school, the Modern Monetary School, Rational Expectation School and so on. Its major theoretical viewpoints include:advocating privatization, opposing public ownership; advocating non-regulation and non-control, opposing the state intervention; insisting on liberalization, opposing socialism and the welfare state; insisting on the global liberalization, going against the establishment of the reasonable and new international political and economic order; Denying national states, promoting political liberalization. The essence of neo-liberalism is the theory of international monopoly capitalism service system. The research of domestic academic circles in Neo-liberalism generates four major views as follows:complete repudiation, dissemination and introduction, strong advocacy and worship, critical absorption and learning.The predecessor of democratic socialism is social democracy. Due to various factors, social democracy has been making continual readjustments in its name and connotation from the very beginning. The basic theory of democratic socialism maintains:in terms of ideology, adhere to the diversity of guiding ideology; in terms of economy, advocate a wide range of mixed economic systems, realize the true democratization of economic decision-making; Politically, recognize and support the existing capitalist systems and countries and advocate multi-party system; as to social theory, advocate social democracy and the welfare state; as for international issues, advocate international democracy and implement diverse foreign policy. There are three tendencies in domestic academic research on democratic socialism:complete repudiation; strong advocacy and worship; critical absorption and learning.According to the basic principles put forward on the Seventeenth National Congress of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China—being inclusive and diverse; facing the challenges; promoting the self-development; opening up to the world, we should initially establish the dominance and leadership of the system of socialist core values in China's ideological field. Secondly, correctly handle the relationship between the system of socialist core values and other social ideological trends. Finally, restructure the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics which possesses the system of socialist core values. On the basis of tolerance, build the social theory with Chinese characteristics and Chinese style, rendering the social theory with the system of socialist core values the global ideological resources.
