The study objects of this paper are Chinese American and Chinese Canadian who moved to the America and Canada after World War II, especially after 60's. The paper mostly studies social integration problem based on five factors, residence distribution, education level, economic adaptation, cultural identity, and psychological ownership. Finally, the paper concludes the different degree of social integration between Chinese American and Chinese Canadian, and presents the problems of the two countries Chinese which they are facing when they try to merge into mainstream society. The conclusion of the paper has important practical significance for further promoting the development of the United States and Canada Chinese, and has important reference value for the people who are intending to migrate to American and Canada.This paper includes six parts:The First part: This part focuses on the population status of North American Chinese. It mainly analyzes the population size, population source structure, gender composition and age composition.The Second part: This part study the dispersion pattern of Chinese in the mainstream society from the perspective of distribution dimension .Although the Chinese are showing a tendency of large dispersion, the habitat phenomenon is still very obvious and residential segregation level of Chinese Canadian is higher than the Chinese American. The Third part: This part examining the overall quality of an ethnic group from the perspective of education dimension. Survey data related to the Chinese in these two countries shows a relatively high level of education, education integration is in a good condition.The fourth part: This part analyze the United States and Canada Chinese through the perspective of income and employment , Chinese Americans show Higher degree of integration,Chinese Canadian economy resilience still at a low level in terms of the overall order.The fifth part: Cultural identity Dimension including the official language, religion, lifestyle, habits of mind and intermarriage. Both American Chinese and Chinese Canadian master the official language proficiency are not high. Most of them have utilitarian nature, rather than true faith to Western religious from the heart. The United States and Canada Peranakan shows higher integration on three indicators: way of life, habits of mind and intermarriage. They move closer to the mainstream society actively. Social integration's degree to the new immigrants is relatively poor. Therefore, the cultural integration of the two Chinese is not high as a whole.The sixth part: Psychological ownership, including the identity and political identity. During the "localization" process, Peranakan Chinese is still been seen as foreigners in the two countries. Most of them are facing the puzzlement of ethnicity identification. Chinese American identity is better than the Chinese in Canada, Two Chinese participation in the political is not strong, However, the Chinese Canadian slightly better than the American Chinese.In short, social integration process between the two Chinese has some similarities, but there still have some differences. On the one hand, they integrate into the mainstream society gradually. On the other hand, they are marginalized gradually, but integration into mainstream society is the main trend.
