As the outcome of social development and civilization improvement, citizen is alsothe promoter and the beneficiary of political civilization development. The SeventeenthNational Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2007 made them important tasksto step up education about citizenship and to deepen socialist concepts of democracy forthe first time, which also marked that China has entered a new period of development ofsocialist democracy. Stepping up education about citizenship and establishing socialistconcepts of democracy, the rule of law, freedom, equality, equity and justice will have adeep influence on the political, economic and cultural life of citizens, and formed values,principles and social relationships with time characteristics, which will serve to improvethe overall quality of Chinese citizens.Civilization will triumph over savage and democracy will replace the autocracy is thelaw of the development of history. Taking on the tremendous responsibility of transformChina into a modern and powerful socialist country, collage students are the future andhope of Chinese nation. Since they are characterized as a special group, citizenship ofcollage students can not only have effect on their life style but also have decisiveinfluence on the establishment of civil society in China. How about the Chinese collagestudent's consciousness of citizenship at present? How about the relationship betweenChinese collage student's consciousnesses of citizenship with their individualcharacteristics?This thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is to clarify the conception ofcitizen and citizenship, including the evolvement of conception of citizen, thedevelopment of citizen in China, and differences and similarities between citizenshipand ideological and political education. According to the statistical result of the dataprovided by the questionnaire, the second part probe into collage students'nationalconsciousness and consciousness of democratic participation, law, regulation, civilrights, civilization and ethics. In the third part, by analyzing the connection betweendifferences of collage students'consciousness of citizenship and their individual factors,the author tries to get some of his own humble views.
