Identity is the cognition about who I am and which essential characteristic I have. The person who has unhealthy identity always couldn't find where they belong to, so they have sensitive and lonely hearts.Specifically speaking, Deaf identity means a person accept his/her hearing disorder and deaf culture, this has an significant influence on the social adaption of the deaf. The social adaption of the deaf includes main society and the deaf society. Accepting their deaf identity not only help the deaf to have the sense of belonging, but promote their social adaption.This study use questionnaire method and the subjects are the deaf students from three universities. Using the questionnaire of Deaf Identity of deaf college students by Hu Yamei and the questionnaire of Social Adaption of deaf college students by self-designed, this study was not only to investigate the condition about the deaf identity and social adaption of deaf students in college, but to investigate the relationship between the identity and the social adaption. According to the conclusion of the study, the suggestions were raised about cultivating the deaf students'identity and developing theirs social adaption.This study comes to those conclusions:1.The deaf students of college have different identities, and the four culture identities all be embodied. The number of deaf students who has marginal identity and deaf identity is the most and equal, the number of deaf students who has bicultural identity is lesser, the number of deaf students who has hearing identity is the least. 2.The environment has marked effect to the deaf people's identity. The deaf students who was borned in deaf family are inclined to deaf identity; the deaf students who accepted the basic education in deaf school are inclined to deaf identity, while the deaf students who finished their middle education in ordinary school are inclined to bicultural identity. 3.The deaf students who hold deaf identity and bicultural identity have the best social adaption, and the deaf students who hold deaf identity have the worst social adaption, the students'social adaption who hold the hearing identity is in the middle level.According to the study outcome, the suggestions about developing the deaf students'identity and social adaption are:1.Carrying out the deaf culture research in China, and pay more attention to deaf culture. 2.Family, school and social should enhance cooperation to create a better environment and promote the development of deaf students'identity and social adaption. 3. To educate the deaf students on deaf culture, offer school-based curriculum about deaf culture. 4. Strengthening education in social adaption, getting in touch with community, encouraging deaf students attend community life and experience two society. 5. Offer the deaf culture course to the teachers in deaf school and the students whose major is special education. 6. Appointing the deaf teacher in deaf school, paying enough attention to the deaf teacher.
