| The paper adopts the documentary research method, field observation, interviewing method, questionnaire method, probability method, etc. On analysis the recent research and the research results,the paper defines the core concept, shows the source, development and classification of entertainment basketball, investigates the characteristic and value of the entertainment basketball and puts forward the countermeasures on the problems existed in the development of the entertainment basketball in universities under the background of sunshine sports. The research results reveal: Firstly, it is the necessary and feasible to develop the entertainment basketball in Nanning. The paper reveals that the entertainment basketball which has the general features of the basketball such as communality, competiveness, playfulness and fitness is the emerging sports. Besides those, it also has the qualities of convenience, entertainment, appreciation, display and commerciality. The entertainment basketball could strengthen the students'physique, cultivate the students'taste and promote the students'social development. Secondly, entertainment basketball owns the value of fitness, entertainment, culture, social contact and economy so that it is worth popularizing this sport. Thirdly, owing to the qualities and the advantages of the entertainment basketball, it is necessary and feasible to popularize the entertainment basketball in the universities of Nanning. The development of entertainment basketball would play a positive role in promoting the sunshine sports in the universities, thus it would effectively promote the sunshine sports of universities in Nanning. Fourthly, the rapid promotion, popularization and the successful experiences of its development would provide the references for the spread and development of the sunshine sports in other districts or cities. Fifthly, although the entertainment basketball has achieved great success in the universities of Nanning, it has also existed great many problems to solve in promoting the sunshine sports. The entertainment basketball has been introduced to our country ever since 1990s,many young students are attracted to play it, and the holding matches of various entertainment basketball further stimulate them to participate this game. This has effects a positive and great influence to our sports undertakings. Under the background of sunshine sports, the entertainment basketball with its own advantages is playing a positive and profound influence in promoting the sunshine sports in the universities.
